Three Books That Made Me Smile This Month 😊
Readin’ and Writin’
✍️✍️✍️
Murder at First Principles is selling, and getting great reviews. I don’t need to explain how it feels when you get good feedback after taking a creative risk and putting something “out there.” But what’s incredibly cool is that while I wrote the novel with business / startup readers in mind, much of the initial great feedback has been from readers who have no active connections to the business world, indicating that the story holds up on its own, something I hoped for.
My second novel, Fever Pitch, is aaaaaaalmost ready for final edit.

Three books I read this month that put a smile on my face:
1. Project Hail Mary
By Andy weir
Oh man, this was a fun story. Sci-fi, with tons of science, like his previous book The Martian. Pro tip: if you can, listen to the audiobook — without giving away any spoilers, the story makes reference to sounds that I presume are easier and more fun to imagine as a listener rather than a reader.
2. The Fish That Ate the Whale
By Rich Cohen
The fascinating true story of Sam Zemurray, the “Banana King” who went from penniless immigrant to the dominant ruler of the banana trade (and with it, the de facto controller of some Central American governments). Tangentially fascinating insights into his philanthropy, his personal tragedies and his likely covert involvement in the creation of the State of Israel.
3. Bourbon Empire
By Reid Mitenbuler
Almost as good as a great bourbon, is a great book about bourbon. A deep dive into the history of my favorite brink and its ascension to prominence in America, this book surfaces and/or dispels the backstories of many of the iconic bourbon brands.
